BACK TO ECODESIGN

__ Early in the planning process of an Ecological-Industrial Park, a "Design Charrette" is held. A charrette is a design school term for a creative brainstorming session. SD&D utilizes this process to facilitate discussion between all interested parties enhancing the communication, planning, and implementation process.


___GOALS of the CHARRETTE______________________________________

  • Create new park wisdom from the assembled intelligence of the group;

  • Convert the vision to practical and realistic expectations;

  • Bring new resources and ideas to the developers;

  • Solidify seller and buyer confidence and align their expectations and understanding;

  • Prioritize areas of potential success and solve project tensions; and

  • Identify first-order planning actions to implement

 

___TASKS of the CHARRETTE_______________________________________

___Task 1: Identify participant preconceptions

___Task 2: Introduce the goals of the charrette, the agenda, and the project

___Task 3: Brainstorming session on the vision(s) of an Eco-Park

___Task 4: Identify potential conflicts, tensions, and methods to address

___Task 5: Planning and Design Principles workshop (small groups)

___Task 6: Define the attributes and synergies of an Ecological-Industrial Park

___Task 7: Critique the Park, refine the synergies

___Task 8: Implementation workshop (small groups)

___Task 9: Summaries by participants
